FortiToken Mobile is an advanced One Time Password (OTP) generator app designed for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your mobile device. This OATH-compliant application supports both event-based and time-based OTPs, serving as the client component in Fortinet's comprehensive solution for robust authentication. To validate these OTPs, you'll need to pair FortiToken Mobile with FortiOS, FortiAuthenticator, or FortiToken Cloud as your OTP validation server or service.
Privacy and Control:
Your privacy is paramount with FortiToken Mobile. The app does not have the capability to alter your phone's settings, capture photos or videos, record or transmit audio, or access your emails. It also cannot view your browsing history. FortiToken Mobile will only send you notifications or modify settings with your explicit permission. Additionally, the app cannot perform a remote wipe of your device. The only information it may access is your OS version, which is used to ensure compatibility with the app's version. During manual setup, you might enter sensitive details such as your email address or token seeds for FortiToken tokens, 3rd Party tokens, and Token Transfer.
While FortiToken Mobile respects your device's settings and requires permission for any changes, certain permissions are necessary for its operation:
- Camera access is needed to scan QR codes, simplifying the token activation process.
- TouchID/FaceID is used to enhance the security of the app.
- Internet access is required for token activation and receiving push notifications.
- The "Send Feedback by Email" feature uses your email to automatically fill the "Sender" field.
- The app can share files internally between applications to attach them to emails for feedback.
- To prevent data corruption during upgrades, FortiToken Mobile needs to keep your phone awake while updating its internal database.
