Japanese Mahjong
Experience the strategic depth and excitement of Japanese-style Mahjong with our game. Navigate the game using the Slider located beneath the screen to select your tiles. To discard a tile, simply tap the Slider.
In Mahjong, the objective is to complete your hand with four Melds and one Pair. A sample hand might look like this: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, be aware that certain hands may not be valid if you use Chi, Pon, or Open Kan.
A key rule in Japanese Mahjong is that you must have at least one valid hand. You can declare Reach by paying 1,000 points, which allows you to form a hand. Note that you cannot declare Reach if you have used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one that hasn't used these actions, will yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. This occurs when you are Waiting for a tile to win, but you cannot claim victory from another player's discard because you have already discarded the winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-draw. The trick is to avoid being Ron'd by another player, meaning they cannot win with a tile you discard. Strategically reason out other players' hands from their discards to secure your victory.
