Mahjong School: Master Japanese Mahjong Riichi
Mahjong School is your destination for learning to play Mahjong. We specialize in teaching the Japanese style of Mahjong, which is nearly identical to the European (Riichi) and US styles. While it may differ slightly from Chinese, Hong Kong, or Taiwanese versions, mastering Japanese Mahjong makes it easy to transition to other styles.
Mahjong School offers three methods to help you learn Japanese Mahjong.
1 The Mahjong Calculator.
Click to add tiles to your hand or declare TING, CHOW, PON, or CHI to form a winning hand. Configure various conditions like DORA and self-draw. Once set, the calculator determines your hand's Fu and points, complete with detailed descriptions including hand names.
2 The Simple Tutorial.
This tutorial lists every Han value with example hands and clear explanations.
3 A Practice Mode.
Play Mahjong directly against AI. The AI is designed for beginners, making it ideal for new learners. Practice is the most effective way to improve your Mahjong skills.
