22 Best PlayStation Plus Horror Games, Ranked

In 2022, Sony revolutionized PlayStation Plus, ushering in a new era for the service. Now, players choose from three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Online multiplayer access requires at least a PS Plus Essential subscription for most games. This tier also includes a few free monthly games. However, fans seeking PS Plus horror games will likely need to explore the Extra and Premium tiers.

The Extra tier offers access to hundreds of PS5 and PS4 titles, with approximately 15 new games added monthly. Premium includes all Extra games, plus hundreds of classic PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP titles. Sony's service boasts a diverse genre selection, catering to a wide range of tastes. This includes a strong horror selection, with some of the scariest PS Plus games ranking among the service's best.

Updated January 5, 2025 by Mark Sammut: The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup lacked new horror titles, so fans must rely on existing offerings. Furthermore, Resident Evil 2 will leave the service on January 21, 2025, removing a top-tier horror option. Fortunately, its campaigns are relatively short, allowing completion before removal. Resident Evil 3 remains available.

With no new additions, a new section highlighting alternative PS Plus games for horror fans has been added.
