Amazon Slashes Price on Used PlayStation Portal: Now $50 Off

Author : Olivia May 25,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted before, but now you can snag a great deal on a used one. Amazon Resale, previously known as Amazon Warehouse, currently has Used: Like New condition PS Portals in stock for just $150.23 shipped. Normally priced at $199 new, this represents a solid 25% savings. While a Sony warranty may or may not be included, Amazon Resale items are covered by the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. We anticipate these units will sell out quickly.

Update: The price has dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New unit.

The unit looks and functions as if it were new, though moderate packing damage was observed during inspection.

The PS Portal is Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory designed for the PS5 console. It resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen in the center. It allows you to stream games from your PS5 at up to 60fps, offering the same features as the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that replaces the DualSense's touchpad. The Portal can stream games even when you're away from home, provided you have access to a very stable and fast internet connection. However, it's important to note that the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to function.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a feature allowing owners to stream games directly from the PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. This means Portal owners can now choose to connect either to their PS5 or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, accessing over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Keep in mind that you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus for this feature, but at $18 a month, it's a more affordable option than buying a PS5 and additional games.

It's worth mentioning that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar functionality by downloading the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device, such as the Steam Deck. However, this method is more complex to set up and lacks some DualSense features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy**

"The PlayStation Portal is a surprisingly delightful device. It's a far better experience than using a phone with an attached controller, and it performs better than I expected. I appreciate the freedom it offers to play my PS5 games from anywhere with decent Wi-Fi coverage, especially when my family uses the TV to play the Switch. However, it's not a standalone device and requires a PS5 to function. The main drawbacks are the lack of support for Wi-Fi networks requiring a web browser to log in and the absence of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these issues, it's the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play currently available, making it a valuable accessory for PS5 owners who enjoy handheld gaming or need to share the household TV."
