Excitement is in the air as Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios unveil a new chapter in the beloved Avatar universe with the announcement of Avatar: Seven Havens. This thrilling development comes as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Avatar: The Last Airbender, created by the visionary duo Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The new series promises to captivate fans with a 26-episode, 2D animated adventure centered around a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the next Avatar following Korra.

According to a press release from Nickelodeon, Avatar: Seven Havens unfolds in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. The young Earthbender protagonist finds herself thrust into the role of the new Avatar, but in this perilous era, the title brands her as a harbinger of destruction rather than salvation. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to unravel their enigmatic past and safeguard the Seven Havens—the last bastions of civilization—from collapse.

In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."

Avatar: Seven Havens will be structured into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Although no casting announcements have been made yet, anticipation is high for this new addition to the Avatar saga.

This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also working on a feature-length animated movie centered on adult Aang. Scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, this film will take audiences on a fresh adventure with the beloved character.

As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios is rolling out an array of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game in Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty to look forward to as they celebrate this monumental milestone.
