Neowiz and Gamfs N have released the first content update for Brown Dust 2 since its 1.5-year anniversary celebration in December. Aptly titled "Onsen Training," this update brings a fiery dose of Japanese hot spring fun to the game.
Prepare for sword-fighting battles, Brown Dust 2-style challenges, and a healthy dose of monkey mayhem in a snowy Japanese hot spring setting. It's a surprisingly funny and action-packed adventure.
Brown Dust 2's Onsen Training: A Deep Dive
This update introduces three new characters: Ventana, the story's protagonist, and Liberta, both available via the pickup draw; and Blade, who remains exclusive to the narrative.
The "Onsen Training" event story unfolds within the same universe as Brown Dust 2's Character Pack 1: Jayden’s Gate. It features 30 battles, divided into 15 normal and 15 challenge modes.
Ventana, the Kendo Club captain, suffers a humiliating defeat at the hands of a new student, Justia. Seeking to regain her honor, she journeys to a snowy mountain hot spring rumored to enhance physical strength. However, her training is hilariously interrupted by mischievous Snowy Mountain Monkeys.
Rescued by Blade, a legendary Kendo Club graduate, Ventana's request for training is initially rejected. Liberta, the hot spring manager, steps in, promising to help Ventana secure Blade's tutelage.
A New Mini-Game Enters the Fray
"Onsen Tile Tactics," a time-limited tile-clearing mini-game, adds another layer of fun. The event story unfolds in phases: "Legendary Graduate" (Week 1), culminating in "Beyond Legend" (Week 3).
Players will face returning and new bosses. Giant Rou, the Fiend Hunter, returns in Week 1. Week 3 introduces the fiery Snowy Mountain Tyrant, a colossal monkey whose strength increases when targeting enemies with DoT effects. Rucersingha, the Ruler of the Void, makes its debut as a Guild Raid boss, boasting devastating attacks and a high chain-stack requirement.
New gear and costumes are also up for grabs. The Onsen Practitioner Ventana costume is available until January 30th, followed by the Onsen Manager Liberta costume, available until February 13th.
