Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator

Crunchyroll has recently expanded its Android vault with the addition of Kardboard Kings, a captivating single-player management game where running a card shop becomes an adventure. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this game has now been made available on mobile devices, thanks to Crunchyroll. Developed by Henry’s House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross, and published by Akupara Games, Kardboard Kings has also seen releases on various consoles. If you're a Crunchyroll member, you can download this game for free from the Google Play Store.

What’s the Deal in Kardboard Kings?

In Kardboard Kings, you step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, who inherits a card shop from his father, a renowned card collector and former champion of the legendary card game, Warlock. As the new shopkeeper, Harry embarks on an exciting journey into the world of card trading, buying, and selling.

Harry isn’t alone in this venture; he's joined by Giuseppe, a clever cockatoo with a talent for fast-talking and deal-making. This unique business partnership adds a fun and dynamic element to the game, as Giuseppe often helps Harry spot lucrative opportunities.

Set in a picturesque seaside location, the shop in Kardboard Kings is a hub of activity. As Harry, your goal is to keep every customer satisfied, though you might be tempted to engage in some mischievous dealings for extra profit. The game is rich with charming, sarcastic characters and references to other card games and anime, enhancing the overall experience. The cards themselves are a highlight, featuring over 100 unique designs with quirky illustrations, including shiny variants.

What’s the Gameplay Like?

The gameplay in Kardboard Kings begins simply: buy cards at a low price and sell them at a higher one to turn a profit. As you delve deeper, you'll encounter varying card conditions and set rarities, which, along with factors like foil finish, abilities, and popularity, influence a card’s value.

The game also features a roguelite deckbuilding mode set on Card Game Island, where you can challenge formidable duelists. Additionally, you have the option to organize tournaments, host booster pack parties, or conduct clearance sales to manage your inventory effectively.

If you’re a Crunchyroll member, don’t miss out on the chance to experience Kardboard Kings on your Android device. Download it now from the Google Play Store and immerse yourself in the thrilling world of card shop management.
