First Deadlock update of 2025 is surprisingly small

Author : Noah Mar 16,2025

Valve's back from their New Year break, and the first Deadlock patch of 2025 is here! While we anticipated a hefty update following the shift away from bi-weekly releases, this one’s surprisingly small.

The focus is squarely on Yamato, who received a minor nerf. Damage scaling has been reduced, and the attack speed bonus from the first level of Shadow Transformation is lower. Further adjustments target Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot, each receiving a weakening, while Alchemical Fire has undergone a slight rework.

A larger patch is likely on the horizon, though predicting its arrival is currently impossible.

It's worth noting Deadlock's player count has dipped recently, perhaps due to the popularity of Marvel Rivals. However, with a consistent online player base ranging from 7,000 to 19,000 players—remarkable for a game still in deep beta—the game's future remains promising. Remember, Valve hasn't yet revealed any release dates or details regarding monetization.
