A new installment in the beloved Digimon video game series, tentatively titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly been leaked through GameStop listings just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted and shared by Gematsu, who also provided pre-order links for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Despite the absence of any images or gameplay details, the sudden appearance of these listings has sparked excitement among fans.
The timing of the leak is particularly intriguing as it occurs mere hours before Sony’s latest State of Play event, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. While the exact lineup for the presentation remains under wraps, the possibility of Digimon Story: Time Stranger being officially revealed seems plausible, given the recent pre-order listings.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that dates back to the original Digimon Story released for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Over the years, the franchise has expanded across various platforms with numerous titles, including the popular Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and its sequel, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017. These were later combined into the Complete Edition in 2019.
In these games, players are typically drawn into the Digimon universe to befriend and collaborate with digital monsters, engaging in RPG-style battles. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment. While titles like Digimon Survive have helped to bridge the gap, the potential arrival of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could mark the long-awaited continuation of the main series.
