*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many of the series' systems, making tracking monsters a thing of the past—except for one notable exception. Here's how to find the elusive Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
As you progress through the main story of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll encounter the Black Flame monster around Chapter 3. After its initial appearance, it will slither away to hide in the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to track it down and defeat it.
Start by leaving the Base Camp and heading towards Zone 9, as indicated on the map below.
As you make your way to Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks, and your Hunter will pick up the Black Flame's trail, which will be automatically sent to the scoutflies. This will make tracking its exact location much easier. Simply follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies to reach Zone 9, where you'll find the giant flaming crater housing the Black Flame.
Known as Nu Udra, the Black Flame is a tentacled monster that can unleash devastating fire and flame-based attacks. To simplify the battle, focus on severing a few of its tentacles first. This strategy will grant you easier access to its inner weak points, allowing you to gather more materials after the fight.
It's also advisable to carry Cool Drinks with you to mitigate the region's intense heat, which can otherwise cause your health to deplete continuously.
That's how you find and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed guides on the game, including how to change your Palico's language and capture monsters, be sure to visit The Escapist.
