The eagerly anticipated open world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's cinematic adaptations, has been rescheduled for release on June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom recently announced this delay but sweetened the news by offering early access starting June 5 for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of the game.

The decision to push back the release date stems from feedback gathered during the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. Funcom stated that the extra time will allow the team to "cook" a bit longer, ensuring they can incorporate essential changes and enhancements suggested during the beta phase. Moreover, this delay will facilitate a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering even more players the chance to experience the game and provide valuable feedback.
While the delay might disappoint some eager fans, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, along with details on archetypes and skills, providing an exciting glimpse into what players can expect.
Here at IGN, our enthusiasm for Dune: Awakening remains high. Our hands-on preview highlighted that, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
