How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
The Hermit quest automatically unlocks upon completing several quests for Radovan, the blacksmith. After retrieving his lost cart, report back to him. He'll then reveal his desire to forge a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, however, you must gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.
Get Information About the Hermit
First, visit the Troskowitz tavern and speak with Innkeeper Betty, exhausting all dialogue options. Then, talk to other villagers—the alehouse maid and general trader are good starting points—to gather additional information.
Talk to Gerda and Stanislav
Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz, a witness to a relevant event. Offer her Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain information. Afterwards, find Stanislav in Apollonia and repeat the process, either paying or succeeding in a dialogue check.
Gather Evidence
With the information gathered, locate the cross Gerda mentioned. Dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in nearby cemeteries) to uncover Groschen and documents related to the Knights of the Cross. Examine these documents. Then, investigate the quest marker in Apollonia—a hut and clearing with a black horse—to find your next clue. 
Talk to the Hermit
Proceed to the hermit's hut. Without prior evidence gathering, the hermit will be uncooperative. However, armed with the necessary information, he'll become more talkative. Choose the dialogue options: "You're suspicious," exhaust all options regarding clues and evidence, and finally, "Out with it!" The hermit will reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he tasks you with delivering a cross to a widow named Margaret, starting the Sinful Soul quest (optional; you can return to Konrad immediately).
Help Konrad or Kill Him
Returning to the hermit's hut, you'll find Crusaders present. You can choose to help them kill Konrad or aid his escape. If you choose to sneak to the hut, Konrad will talk. Tell him you've completed the quest and ask about the sword. You can then choose to help or kill him. Killing Konrad is often easier, especially with the Crusaders' assistance.
Get the Hermit’s Sword
North of the hut, find two tangled oak trees where the sword is lodged. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
