Hungry Horrors Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Release Soon

Hungry Horrors, the latest quirky roguelite deckbuilder from UK-based Clumsy Bear Studio, is turning the genre on its head. Instead of battling monsters, you'll be cooking up a storm to satisfy their hunger. The game has just released its first playable demo on Steam, giving players a taste of what's to come.

Following its PC debut, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. While an official release date remains under wraps, you can dive into the demo on Steam, Itch, or GOG. The developers have been actively engaging with the community, showcasing the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.

The Steam demo offers a robust preview, featuring two handcrafted biomes, six hungry monsters to serve, two boss fights, and four NPCs to interact with. Additionally, there are non-combat zones like the Nook and the Trove, where you can regroup and refine your culinary strategy.

Take a closer look at the game with the official demo trailer below.

More About Hungry Horrors

In Hungry Horrors, you step into the shoes of a princess tasked with preparing traditional British and Irish dishes to appease folklore creatures and prevent them from turning you into their next meal. This unique blend of deckbuilding and culinary arts is both innovative and entertaining.

The game boasts a retro pixel art style with gothic undertones, but its humor truly stands out. You'll be whipping up dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, aiming to satisfy the finicky tastes of each monster. From Jenny Greenteeth, the blood-thirsty swamp witch, to Black Annis, the child-snatching hag with iron claws, these creatures have been terrifying people for centuries. Fail to meet their culinary expectations, and you might find yourself on the menu!

As you play, you'll need to decipher the likes and dislikes of each monster, from legends like Grendel to the peculiar Redcap. Some may crave sweet treats, while others might recoil at the mere sight of fish.

The deckbuilding aspect adds another layer of strategy. You'll combine ingredients and utilize utensils, spices, and herbs to enhance your dishes. Balancing flavor profiles and planning your meals strategically is key to success.

Progress through the game to unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars. For a deeper dive into Hungry Horrors, visit their Steam page.
