Despite fan enthusiasm, Activision canceled "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. The game's unique Iron Man design, predating Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU portrayal by almost five years, also drew comment.
