Despite fan enthusiasm, Activision canceled "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. The game's unique Iron Man design, predating Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU portrayal by almost five years, also drew comment. The suit closely resembled the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version from the early 2000s. Edwards stated the design choice was the artist's decision. He promised more gameplay footage, but at the time of writing, this footage has yet to be released.
