Modern Era Star Trek Series Ranked

Author : Sadie May 05,2025

Since the launch of Star Trek: Discovery in 2017, the Star Trek franchise has been making significant waves in the modern era, culminating in the recent release of Star Trek: Section 31 on Paramount+. While Section 31 may not have met everyone's expectations, it has still contributed some memorable moments that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best of Star Trek.

With the mixed reception to Section 31 and the critical acclaim of Strange New Worlds, it seems like the perfect moment for fans to weigh in and rank the modern era Star Trek series. Although Section 31 is technically a movie, it's included in our rankings because it originated as a proposed series.

You can create your own tier list and compare it with the IGN community. Do you believe Strange New Worlds deserves its top spot? Is Discovery unfairly rated with a D? It's up to you to decide!

### Star Trek Series of the Modern Era

Personally, I was thoroughly impressed with the third season of Picard, feeling that it more than compensated for the shortcomings of its first two seasons, earning it a solid A. Prodigy holds a special place in my heart as well, essentially serving as the Voyager sequel I never knew I needed, which I believe deserves at least a B, if not higher.

You can view my tier list below and then explore how to watch Star Trek in order, get the latest updates on the Star Trek live-action comedy and Starfleet Academy series, and delve into what happened with Star Trek 4.
