Sony WH1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee

"The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the significant upgrade we've been eagerly awaiting from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities, while the ambient listening mode is remarkably natural. The audio quality is impeccable, whether you're listening to intricate classical music or enjoying a rocking action movie—these headphones can handle it all."

The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 is equipped with a second processor and double the microphone count dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The earcups have been redesigned to fit more snugly on the ear, creating a better seal and thus more effective passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation is noticeably better than the XM4 and surpasses most other noise-canceling headsets in its price range.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 also features a sleeker redesign with a different headband adjustment style. The band is wider for better weight distribution, and the earcup padding is now made of a luxurious synthetic leather material that's softer and more comfortable. You can easily wear these headphones for hours. However, a minor drawback is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward; it can only be swiveled, making it less compact.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 maintains the XM4's excellent battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge, even with ANC activated. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

Best of all, at this price, the XM5 is significantly less expensive than its competitors, such as the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise-canceling headphones, you should take advantage of this deal.
