Stellar Blade Dev Shift Up Posts Record Year, Sales of PC Version Still Expected to Outsell PS5

Author : Alexander Feb 19,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales, particularly within the Asian market.

Game World Observer reported Shift Up's 2024 financial report, showcasing a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stemmed directly from Stellar Blade royalties.

The company anticipates continued success, emphasizing the strong potential of the PC release. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Project Witches, revealed in 2024 following Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, is a separate project, pre-dating significant demand for a sequel.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting to liberate Earth from unknown invaders. Despite receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN, citing shortcomings in character development and narrative, the game achieved notable success, selling over one million copies. Our review highlighted the game's strong action mechanics, while noting weaker storytelling and RPG elements as detracting factors.
