Unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2024's Xbox showcase, Threads of Time is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and Steam. While a release date remains unannounced, PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions are also yet to be confirmed.
Generating considerable buzz, Threads of Time is poised to rival Sea of Stars as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. This debut title from Riyo Games offers a retro-style experience infused with modern polish.
"Riyo Games aims to create retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories," the studio stated in its announcement. "Our journey began with a childhood promise – two friends playing RPGs, vowing to one day craft their own epic adventures."
Boasting stunning 2.5D pixel art, Threads of Time features a diverse cast of characters from various eras. Players will journey through centuries, from the age of dinosaurs to a futuristic world of robots, uncovering a time-altering conspiracy. The pixel art is complemented by high-quality anime cutscenes, enriching the narrative.
