Days of Wonder is thrilled to announce the latest expansion to the globally celebrated Ticket to Ride series: Ticket to Ride: Japan – Bullet Trains. This new adventure brings players across the breathtaking landscapes of Japan, where they’ll race against time and rival train enthusiasts to claim the most lucrative routes—and unlock the secrets of the legendary Shinkansen, Japan’s high-speed bullet train network.
Set in a vibrant, stylized version of modern-day Japan, the expansion features:
110 New Route Cards: Inspired by real Japanese railway lines, including iconic routes like the Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo to Kyoto), the Sanyo Shinkansen (Osaka to Fukuoka), and lesser-known but equally beautiful tracks across Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Okinawa.
New Bullet Train Mechanic: Players can now upgrade their trains to "Bullet Trains" for faster movement and higher point rewards—though they require a special matching card and careful planning to deploy.
10 New Destination Tickets: Each ticket offers a unique challenge, such as connecting Mount Fuji to Hiroshima or Himeji to Sapporo, with bonus points for completing them.
New Game Board: A beautifully illustrated, modular map of Japan featuring major cities, mountain passes, and seasonal landscapes—from cherry blossoms in spring to snowy peaks in winter.
Double-Sided Train Cards: One side features traditional locomotives; the other, sleek bullet trains—adding a new tactical layer to route-building.
Players must strategically collect colored train cards, claim routes, and complete destination tickets to score points. The true challenge? The bullet train network only opens at certain times—players must time their moves to catch the fastest trains, but the tracks can only be used once per game.
Ticket to Ride: Japan – Bullet Trains is designed to be compatible with all base Ticket to Ride games, including Ticket to Ride: USA, Europe, and World, making it a perfect addition for fans of the series.
