Application Description

Effortlessly manage your Samsung Smart TVs, appliances, and a wide array of SmartThings-compatible devices with the power of the SmartThings app. Designed to streamline your smart home experience, SmartThings allows you to connect and control your devices with unparalleled ease.

With compatibility spanning hundreds of smart home brands, SmartThings serves as the ultimate hub for your smart home ecosystem. From your Samsung Smart TV to various smart appliances, everything can be managed from one convenient location. Integrate devices from popular brands like Ring, Nest, and Philips Hue to enhance your home automation setup.

Leverage the power of voice commands to control your smart devices using popular voice assistants such as Alexa, Bixby, and Google Assistant. This seamless integration makes managing your home more intuitive than ever.

Key Features

  • Remotely monitor and control your home from anywhere, ensuring peace of mind no matter where you are.
  • Create custom routines triggered by time, weather, or device status to automate your home's operations smoothly in the background.
  • Share control with family members or trusted individuals by granting them access to your SmartThings network.
  • Stay informed with real-time status updates and automated notifications about your connected devices.

While SmartThings is optimized for Samsung smartphones, some features might be limited on other vendors' devices. Additionally, availability of certain features may vary by country. For added convenience, SmartThings can also be installed on Wear OS-based watches, providing quick access to routines and device control directly from your wrist. Ensure your watch is connected to a mobile phone to enjoy these features.

App Requirements

To ensure optimal performance, your mobile device should have at least 2GB of RAM. Samsung Galaxy users can also utilize Smart View for screen mirroring, enhancing their smart home experience.

App Permissions

SmartThings requires certain permissions to function effectively. While optional, these permissions enhance the app's capabilities:

  • Location: Enables device location, location-based routines, and Wi-Fi scanning for nearby devices.
  • Nearby Devices (Android 12 and above): Uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to scan for nearby devices.
  • Notifications (Android 13 and above): Delivers updates and alerts about your SmartThings devices and features.
  • Camera: Facilitates QR code scanning for easy addition of members and devices.
  • Microphone: Allows certain devices to be added using high-frequency sounds.
  • Storage (Android 9-11), Files and Media (Android 12), Photos and Videos, Music and Audio (Android 13 and above): Enables saving data and sharing content across your devices.
  • Phone (Android 9 and above): Supports making calls on smart speakers and displaying caller information.
  • Contacts (Android 9 and above): Retrieves contact information for sending text message notifications and identifying content senders.
  • Physical Activity (Android 10 and above): Detects when you start activities like pet walks.

While optional permissions can enhance your experience, you can still use the app without them, though some functionality might be limited.
