A well-known card game for three players using a 24-card deck.
Current gameplay agreements include:
- A player must reach 880 points to claim a barrel.
- Points are cleared after three unsuccessful attempts to play the barrel.
- A player receives a bolt if they score zero points in a round.
- Accumulating three bolts results in a 120-point penalty.
- Surrendering incurs a full statement penalty, with the other two players each receiving half that amount.
Supported game settings:
- Victory requires exceeding 1000 points.
- Points reset when reaching exactly 555 or -555 points.
- Barrel declaration on one's turn without opponent bidding (details below).
- Redealing when talon or hand points fall below a set threshold.
- Ace marriage scoring.
- Golden round option.
- Cooperative barrel play scenarios.
Barrel game on "own turn":
Players at 880 points may declare barrel when possessing "own turn" privilege.
The "own turn" designation grants first bidding priority.
This ensures bidding victory and talon claim regardless of opponents' card strength.
Failed attempts incur both a strike and 120-point penalty.
Three failed attempts trigger complete point reset.
Barrel players without "own turn" proceed normally but receive neither points nor strikes.
Multiple players simultaneously qualifying for barrel play is permitted.
In such cases, barrel precedence follows turn order.
