The objective is simple yet challenging: be the first to reach a predetermined number of points. Players use a Spanish deck consisting of forty cards. The hierarchy of the cards, ranked from highest to lowest, is as follows: Ace (11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), and the remaining cards 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2, which are known as white cards and carry no points.
Gameplay begins with the first card setting the suit for the round. Players must follow suit if possible. If a player cannot match the suit, they are free to play any card, including trump cards. The trump suit's highest card always wins the trick. If no trump cards are involved, the trick is awarded to the highest card of the leading suit.
