A strategic board game originating from West Africa
Known as Awele, Ayo, or Oware, Awale belongs to the Mancala family of games for two players, sharing similarities with East African variants like Omweso, Bao, and Igisoro.
The game is played using eight holes per player and sixty-four seeds.
A player's territory consists of the row of holes closest to them.
The objective is to capture all or most of your opponent's seeds to prevent them from making further moves.
Other notable games in the Mancala family include Ayo, Kisoro, and Omweso.
Mancala games are believed to have originated in Ethiopia during the era of the Aksum Kingdom.
