DOT’S HOME is a single-player, 2D, narrative-driven video game that immerses players in the life of a young Black woman returning to her grandmother’s cherished home in Detroit. Through a deeply personal journey, she travels across time to relive pivotal moments in her family's history—moments where race, place, and the concept of home intersect, often forcing difficult decisions with lasting consequences.
As an interactive storytelling experience, [ttpp]DOT’S HOME[yyxx] invites players to step into the shoes of those most affected by systemic injustices. By engaging with scenarios shaped by redlining, urban renewal, and gentrification, players are challenged to make meaningful choices about where and how to live. The game prompts reflection with a powerful question: “How did your family end up where they are today—and how much control did they truly have over that journey?”
Developed as part of the Rise-Home Stories project, [ttpp]DOT’S HOME[yyxx] is the result of a three-year collaboration between visionary multimedia storytellers and passionate housing and land justice advocates. Together, they reimagine the past, present, and future of our communities by reshaping the stories we tell about them.
