MCU Role Still Elusive for Jon Hamm

Author : Leo Jan 25,2025

Jon Hamm, renowned for his role in Mad Men, is reportedly in discussions with Marvel Studios about a potential MCU debut. He's actively pitched himself for multiple MCU roles, revealing a personal interest in adapting a specific comic book storyline.

Hamm's Marvel journey almost began earlier. He was cast as Mister Sinister in Fox's The New Mutants, but his scenes were ultimately cut due to the film's troubled production. This near-miss fueled his desire to join the MCU.

In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Hamm confirmed his discussions with Marvel executives. He expressed his enthusiasm for a particular comic book arc and proposed himself for the adaptation, which Marvel also expressed interest in.

Jon Hamm leaning on a fence in Fargo While the specific comic book remains undisclosed, fan speculation runs rampant, with many suggesting Doctor Doom as a fitting role. Hamm previously voiced his interest in the character, highlighting his long-standing fandom of Marvel Comics. The possibility of a Mister Sinister reprisal, this time under Disney's banner, also remains open.

Hamm's career is marked by a deliberate avoidance of stereotypical leading man roles. His recent work in Fargo and The Morning Show keeps him prominently in the public eye, frequently appearing on lists of A-list actors yet to enter the MCU. Despite previously declining the role of Green Lantern, his eagerness to portray a compelling comic book character, particularly a villain of Doctor Doom's stature, remains strong. However, with Galactus rumored as the antagonist for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, Doctor Doom's inclusion remains uncertain.

Ultimately, the success of Hamm's collaboration with Marvel on this undisclosed comic book project remains to be seen.
