What's next for Boba Fett? The legendary Star Wars bounty hunter's last appearance was at the conclusion of his own Disney+ series, *The Book of Boba Fett*, back in February 2022. While the spin-off proved divisive among fans, with critiques that it softened the edges of the iconic villain, it's hard to believe that was truly the end of his story.
Now, over three years later, the prospects for *The Book of Boba Fett* Season 2 seem distant. Lucasfilm has not signaled a return for the series, leaving the upcoming *The Mandalorian & Grogu* film as the most likely venue for a live-action comeback. Could Boba Fett appear in a potential fourth season of *The Mandalorian*? The studio hasn't confirmed plans, but it remains a possibility.
In reality, the future for both Boba Fett and actor Temuera Morrison is unclear. Recent remarks from Morrison himself do little to suggest a change in that status.
In a Collider interview promoting his new film *Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War)*, the 64-year-old New Zealand actor expressed disappointment at not having returned to the role since his series ended. "Where is *The Book of Boba Fett* Season 2? Where the hell is Season 2?" Morrison said. "I know they're doing *Ahsoka* Season 2. I'm going, 'Ah, where's my Season 2?'"
Morrison revealed he even pitched Lucasfilm on having Boba Fett appear in *Ahsoka* Season 2, humorously asking to play Rex and remove his helmet. He noted that he portrays not just Boba Fett but all the clone troopers derived from Jango Fett.
The actor mentioned recently running into Star Wars creative leads Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau and reminding them Boba Fett is still around. According to Morrison, their response was evasive: "They kind of said, 'Well, well,'... they didn't want to say too much... There was a few whispers... but they just left it at that."
This left Morrison feeling like "I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier." He likened the sensation to visiting a grandmother's house and seeing "that preservative jar of peaches up on the shelf."

"That's what I think," he continued. "I'm one of those peaches, and I've been put up on the shelf. I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier."
Morrison could be playing coy, fully aware of planned Star Wars returns. Lucasfilm is famously secretive; Rosario Dawson, for instance, didn't know Mark Hamill was appearing as Luke Skywalker in *The Mandalorian* until he arrived on set.
However, the evidence suggests no active projects for Boba Fett are currently in development. Last year, Morrison pointed to the mixed reception of *The Book of Boba Fett* as a reason for the character's absence from *The Mandalorian & Grogu*. He stated that Disney had not approached him for the film or a second season of his show.
The series, which chronicled Boba Fett's escape from the Sarlacc and functioned as an extended episode of *The Mandalorian*, was among the lower-rated Star Wars Disney+ shows. "This show's reception does seem to have impacted the future of the character in the franchise," Morrison observed in August 2024. It's uncertain if anything has shifted in the year since.
Morrison first entered the galaxy far, far away as Jango Fett in *Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones*, later returning as his cloned son, Boba Fett. He has consistently expressed his eagerness to reprise the role, even joking about wanting a segment of *The Mandalorian*'s screen time, just as Din Djarin featured prominently in his own series.
