Mortal Kombat: Onslaught Shuts Down After Brief Run

Warner Bros. Games is shutting down its mobile title, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, less than a year after its launch. The game was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. In-app purchases will be disabled on August 23rd, 2024, with servers officially going offline on October 21st, 2024.

The exact reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed. However, the recent closure of NetherRealm's mobile games division, which also handled Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice, suggests a potential shift in the company's mobile gaming strategy.

Refunds for In-Game Purchases:

The developers have yet to comment on refunds for in-game purchases. While they promise further information soon, players are advised to monitor the official X (formerly Twitter) account for updates.

About Mortal Kombat: Onslaught:

Released in October 2023 to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught offered a unique take on the series. Departing from traditional fighting game mechanics, it blended action-adventure combat with a cinematic storyline, similar to free-to-play mobile MOBAs. The game centered on Raiden and the player's team thwarting Shinnok's power grab.
