Pokemon GO Unveils 2025 Lunar New Year Celebration

Niantic has exciting news for Pokemon GO enthusiasts: the Lunar New Year 2025 event is set to kick off on January 29 and will run through February 2. This event promises a plethora of opportunities for players to snag Lucky Pokemon, Shiny Pokemon, and a variety of other rewards. Much like the ongoing Fashion Week event, players can dive into Lunar New Year-themed Field Research tasks to earn additional bonuses.

As Pokemon GO celebrates its ninth anniversary in 2025, the beloved AR game is gearing up for a series of new events and updates leading into the summer and the much-anticipated Pokemon GO Fest. Among these, the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova event is scheduled for Los Angeles and New Taipei City from February 21 to 23, with a global event following in March. Before the Unova excitement begins, players can enrich their collections during the Lunar New Year event.

The Pokemon GO Lunar New Year event will run from Wednesday, January 29, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, Niantic is boosting the chances of obtaining Lucky Pokemon through trades and increasing the likelihood of becoming Lucky Friends, which further enhances the odds of getting Lucky Pokemon. Players will encounter Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini more frequently in the wild, with a higher chance of encountering their Shiny variants. Additionally, 2 km Eggs will hatch into Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi during the event.
