Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed Until Autumn

Author : Ryan Apr 28,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was met with excitement, but the trading feature quickly became a point of contention. Initially, the system was criticized for its cumbersome Trading Tokens and restrictive trading rules. However, a new update aims to overhaul this feature entirely.

The first major change is the complete removal of Trading Tokens. Players will no longer need to exchange cards to obtain the necessary currency for trading. Instead, trading cards with three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarities will now require Shinedust. This new currency is earned by opening booster packs and receiving cards that are already registered in your Card Dex.

Existing Trading Tokens will be converted to Shinedust, which is also used to acquire flair. Further updates to Shinedust are in the pipeline, and soon, players will be able to share cards they're interested in trading through an in-game function.

Trading spacesAs previously discussed, the introduction of trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket seemed somewhat half-hearted. The digital nature of the game necessitates more restrictions to prevent abuse, which has been a challenge. While the team has acknowledged these issues, the changes won't be implemented until autumn, leaving players waiting through the spring.
