In the captivating world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, few characters bring as much delight as Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion who embodies the spirit of a mascot. The developers, Sandfall Interactive, have recently raised concerns about the proliferation of fake merchandise related to Esquie, while simultaneously teasing the development of an official Esquie plush.
On the official Expedition 33 X/Twitter account, Sandfall Interactive highlighted the emergence of "suspicious" websites that are selling Esquie plushies. The studio issued a stern warning: "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed. Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams."
However, to temper the disappointment with excitement, as Esquie might put it, Sandfall confirmed its plans to produce official Esquie plushies. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio urged fans.
For those who have embarked on the journey of Expedition 33, the appeal of an Esquie plushie is clear. Introduced in Act 1, Esquie serves as a giant helper who not only becomes a loyal traveling companion but also a unique method of overworld travel, reminiscent of Big Hero 6's Baymax.
Given Esquie's charm, the demand for an official plush is understandable. Quick searches online reveal unofficial sites and discussions about Esquie plush sellers, but fans eager for the authentic product from Sandfall and Kepler must exercise patience. No details have been shared yet on whether the real-life plushie will also contain wine, adding an extra layer of intrigue.
Last week, Sandfall Interactive rolled out patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments for Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron recently lauded the game, describing its developers as a "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
