Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows: What to Choose?

Author : Sophia Apr 03,2025

In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the choices you make can significantly impact your gameplay, especially during the "The Tea Ceremony" mission. After the ceremony, you'll face a critical decision: whether to confront Wakasa or Otama. This choice will shape the rest of your campaign, making it essential to choose wisely for a smoother and more rewarding experience.

Should You Confront Wakasa or Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

After the tea ceremony, the best choice is to confront Wakasa. She is the Golden Teppo of the Onryo, and identifying her correctly leads to the easiest resolution of the mission. When you confront Wakasa, she'll invite Naoe to her home for a private discussion. Upon entering, you'll notice a kasa (straw hat) from the prologue hanging on her wall, confirming your choice. After some dialogue, Naoe can swiftly end the mission by taking Wakasa's Teppo from the wall and shooting her point-blank.

What If You Confront Otama in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Choosing to confront Otama after the tea ceremony leads to a more challenging path. Although you'll still be able to kill Wakasa, mistakenly targeting Otama first means you'll have to navigate a stealth and combat encounter against multiple enemies. After chasing down and killing Otama, you'll discover a letter revealing her corruption, but this delay allows Wakasa to fortify herself in Osaka castle with her soldiers.

To reach Wakasa, you'll need to travel to Osaka castle, either fighting her soldiers or sneaking past them. Even if you manage to sneak up on Wakasa for an assassination, you'll still need to engage in a one-on-one fight. While the boss fight isn't overly difficult, confronting Wakasa directly after the tea ceremony is far less complicated and more cinematically satisfying, especially given her role in Naoe's father's death.

Understanding the best decision to make after the Tea Ceremony mission is crucial. To prepare for the game's more challenging missions, learn how to gain XP and level up quickly in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*. Additionally, discover how to earn more Knowledge Points to unlock new skills for Naoe and Yasuke.
