The Blade Phantom, a formidable foe, awaits you on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass. This spectral adversary challenges your stamina management and combat agility with its relentless attacks. As the battle commences in a castle with floors flooded with crimson liquid, you'll face a variety of moves:

  • A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being a delayed attack.
  • A three-hit combo with two punches and a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo with flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.

In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing red spikes to appear upon impact. When wielding a spear, expect a swift throw followed by a teleporting smash. If armed with a blade, prepare for a rapid six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.

Mastering the timing to parry or dodge these attacks will allow you to counterattack and reduce the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for Brutal Attacks. Continue this strategy until you deplete about half of its health, triggering the transition to Phase 2.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom initiates combat with four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Evade the spear's impact zone to avoid damage, and brace for a leaping swipe. Subsequent attacks include three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.

While the Blade Phantom retains most of its previous moves, new additions include claw attacks, a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks. It will teleport more often, and when equipped with the greatsword, watch for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, replenishing your stamina and opening the boss up for further attacks.

Capitalize on opportunities to deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, and time your Brutal Attacks carefully to maximize damage as the window closes. Defeating the boss rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
