Navigating the vast battlefields in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be a daunting task, especially when you need to reach other officers swiftly to turn the tide of battle. While there's no direct sprint button—your character automatically transitions into a sprint after a few steps—having a horse at your disposal can significantly enhance your mobility and combat effectiveness. Whether you're galloping across the overworld or engaging in fast-paced hit-and-run tactics during battles, your horse is an invaluable asset. Here's how you can unlock your first horse, level it up, and switch to different steeds to optimize your gameplay experience.

How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Unlocking your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is straightforward and rewarding. During Chapter 1, after you've successfully completed the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant will appear in the overworld as you journey northeast from Wan Castle towards the Battle Of Guangzong. This merchant, stationed next to his horse, will generously gift you your first mount upon conversation. Once received, your new horse is automatically equipped and ready to use. To summon your horse and mount it instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're playing on a console, or press the 'V' key on a keyboard.

How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Leveling up your horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins not only increases its speed and stamina but also unlocks unique buffs that can be crucial in battles. Your horse earns XP whenever you complete missions or main story battles with it equipped, regardless of whether you actively use it. Note that your horse does not earn XP from Skirmishes. Missions, identified by a red diamond with a soldier icon, are the key to leveling up your horse. The amount of XP your horse gains depends on the battle's duration and how much you utilize your horse for charging into enemies. As your horse levels up, it will gain access to different buffs at various levels, each horse having its own set of enhancements.

How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

While your first horse comes equipped by default, Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers the opportunity to switch to other steeds for different tactical advantages. You can manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu, which is the last option on the left side of the screen. Each horse boasts unique perks, with some being naturally faster or more suited to specific combat styles. To acquire new horses, you'll need to maximize the peace level of a region, upon which a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint. Always consider switching to a new horse to better fit your evolving strategy and battle needs.
