Firaxis will change Civilization 7 after a barrage of criticism

Following a less-than-stellar launch, the developers behind Civilization 7 have committed to enhancing the game's experience. Firaxis Games has pinpointed the core issues and is diligently working on solutions, focusing on improving the user interface and gameplay mechanics. The game currently holds a 47% positive rating on Steam, with player feedback primarily centered around the simplified interface, missing features, and a perceived lack of content. In response, Firaxis has prioritized interface enhancements, promising to boost map readability, refine menus, and create a more intuitive user experience.

Among the planned additions, players can look forward to:

  • The ability to form teams in multiplayer mode
  • New map varieties
  • Enhanced customization options, including the ability to rename religions and cities

Firaxis is set to release Update 1.1.0 in March, which will include balance adjustments and further improvements. The full release of Civilization 7 is scheduled for February 11.

Many reviewers have noted that the game was released prematurely and requires significant refinement. The $70 price point has been a focal point of criticism, as players feel it does not match the game's current state of quality. Fans of the series are hopeful that Firaxis will heed their feedback and roll out updates that address these concerns, restoring Civilization 7 to the high standards expected of the franchise.

Supporters of the Civilization series are eager for Civilization 7 to uphold the series' legacy of excellence and meticulous detail. However, they believe this can only be achieved with substantial improvements to the game's current version.
