The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

Following the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several key figures from CD Projekt RED departed to pursue independent projects. One such venture is The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran CD Projekt RED developer.

Rebel Wolves recently revealed The Blood of Dawnwalker. Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a driving force behind the studio's formation, shed light on his departure from CDPR:

He desired to explore fresh creative avenues with trusted colleagues, leading to the establishment of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their rich history fueled a desire to innovate and expand upon established RPG conventions. They conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas, recognizing that implementing these within the structure of a large corporation would be challenging, particularly regarding the development of original intellectual property. This realization solidified their decision to create their own studio.

Tomaszkiewicz highlighted the inherent risks associated with their innovative approach. He contrasted the collaborative environment of Rebel Wolves with the complexities of larger studios, emphasizing the streamlined communication and shared vision within their smaller team. This fosters a stronger sense of creative energy and facilitates the development of unique gameplay experiences.
