In Hyper Light Breaker, players are introduced to a variety of essential resources, among which Golden Rations stand out as the rarest and most crucial for key upgrades. The game doesn't provide detailed information on these resources, leaving players to discover them through trial and error. However, if you're looking to skip the guesswork and find Golden Rations more efficiently, this guide is for you.
Where to Get Golden Rations
In the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, Golden Rations can be obtained through two primary methods: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources needed for purchases or upgrades, and you might get lucky and find Golden Rations inside. You'll recognize a chest containing Golden Rations by the distinctive Golden Ration icon displayed above it.
Areas marked with Prisms, shown by a golden diamond icon on the map, are hotspots for finding Golden Ration chests.
Alternatively, you can wait for or force a cycle reset. Each cycle represents an instance of the Overgrowth, resetting when your Rez count hits zero. When you're out of revives, you can choose to retry the map, sacrificing some resources, or opt for a full cycle reset at the Cursed Outpost. After a reset, your performance is scored, and ranking up can earn you Golden Rations as a reward.
What are Golden Rations For?
Golden Rations are a vital resource in Hyper Light Breaker, essential for advancing in the game. They are primarily used at the home base to unlock permanent upgrades for your characters or to access new services from vendors.
Golden Rations also play a key role in unlocking Sycoms, which define your Breaker's stats and core passive abilities. These items are crucial as they shape your Breaker's playstyle, making them highly valuable.
When you first obtain a Golden Ration, we highly recommend using it to purchase the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can significantly ease future runs, especially given the game's challenging combat mechanics that heavily penalize mistakes.
If you die during a run, you'll retain any resources you've collected, but be aware that your weapons, amps, and perks will sustain damage, and repeated damage can lead to their permanent destruction.
