On February 7, 2025, inZOI's game director, Hyungjun Kim, shared exciting news on Discord about a new Karma system for the game. This innovative mechanic will allow deceased Zois to transform into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

Despite inZOI's emphasis on realism, Kim is introducing a paranormal twist with this Karma system. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with sufficient karma points, they transition to the afterlife. However, those who fall short must linger as ghosts until they can amass enough karma to move on." While Kim has kept the specific actions needed to restore karma points under wraps, this addition promises to deepen the game's narrative and engagement.

Kim also noted that they aim to balance the ghost Zois' playability to ensure it complements rather than overshadows the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations at designated times and under specific conditions.

Looking ahead, Kim expressed his vision for the game, stating, "While we focus on refining inZOI's realistic elements, I'm eager to explore more fantasy-driven features in the future. Adding elements outside our ultra-realistic setting could enhance the fun and complexity of our life simulation!"

In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with various content creators to showcase the game through sponsored videos. One such partner, MadMorph, gave viewers a sneak peek into the Karma system during his inZOI video.

At the fifteen-minute mark, MadMorph demonstrated Karma Interactions, a feature allowing Zois to perform actions that affect their Karma points. For example, a mischievous act like secretly farting on another Zoi's face can negatively impact Karma, while positive actions such as "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" can boost it. Although these actions were not fully explored in the video, they hint at the diverse ways players can influence their Zoi's Karma.

While the Early Access version, launching on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus primarily on gameplay with living Zois, the Karma Interactions feature is set to have a more significant impact in future updates. Players eager to experience this innovative system will have just under six weeks to wait before diving into inZOI's Early Access release.
