A key point to remember is that while *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusively for PC players. Accessing this server is straightforward for PC gamers through Steam.
To join, PC players should navigate to their Steam library, locate *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*, and find the public test server listed directly below the main game. Note that this option is only available if you've already purchased *Space Marine 2* on Steam. Once located, you'll need to download and install the test server, which comes as a separate set of files from the main game.
What Is Included with the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server
The *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server offers a range of new content for both PvE and PvP modes. You'll find new weapons, customization options, and a brand-new map for PvE, along with relaxed class restrictions on weapons. Keep in mind that the content, especially in PvE, is still in development and subject to change before its official release.
The public test server also features enhanced online gameplay elements, including improved matchmaking for both PvE and PvP. The PvE system aims to balance teams by preventing multiple players from selecting the same class, and introduces a prestige leveling system. Meanwhile, PvP mode offers expanded customization options in its lobby to enrich the multiplayer experience.
For those with mods installed for *Space Marine 2*, note that these will not work in the public test server. Additionally, any content created or customized within the test server environment won't carry over to the main game, as the test server operates as a distinct build. There's no official confirmation yet on whether progression or content from the test server will transfer to the main game, but it's generally not expected.
