Larian Reveals Fresh Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has confirmed another substantial update set for release in 2025. This update will bring exciting new features including crossplay support and a photo mode, but the highlight is undoubtedly the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each with unique mechanics to enhance gameplay.

Details about four of these subclasses have already been shared, and now we're diving into the remaining ones:

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society. This subclass features the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage to allies but also restores their health, making it a crucial asset in any team.

Arcane Archer

The Arcane Archer blends martial skill with arcane magic, wielding enchanted arrows that can blind, weaken, or even temporarily exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. If an arrow misses its mark, the Arcane Archer can redirect its path to hit another foe, ensuring no shot goes to waste.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk integrates alcohol into their combat style, using it to intoxicate enemies, leaving them disoriented while enhancing their own abilities. Their signature move, Instant Sobriety, inflicts both physical and mental damage on an intoxicated target, turning their foes' weaknesses into a powerful advantage.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with swarms of creatures, harnessing the power of nature for both defense and offense. These swarms protect the ranger and facilitate teleportation. In battle, they can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions that can knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.

These new subclasses promise to bring fresh and exciting dynamics to Baldur's Gate 3, enhancing the strategic depth and replayability of this beloved game. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the 2025 release date.
