Marvel Rivals Developer Says There's Currently No Plan for a PvE Mode

Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Still Unconfirmed, But NetEase Exploring Possibilities

Despite its recent launch, Marvel Rivals players are already clamoring for new content, particularly a PvE mode. Recent rumors of a potential PvE boss fight fueled speculation, but NetEase has officially stated that a full-fledged PvE mode isn't currently in development.

However, during a DICE Summit interview, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu hinted at the possibility of exploring alternative PvE experiences. While a dedicated hardcore PvE mode is unlikely in the near future, Wu stated that the development team is actively experimenting with different gameplay modes. The goal is to find a fun and engaging PvE experience that complements the existing PvP gameplay without drastically altering the core game. A "lighter" PvE mode, such as a limited-time event, is a possibility.

PlayThis aligns with Wu's acknowledgment that a significant portion of the player base desires a PvE option. He emphasized that a truly immersive PvE experience would require a distinct design approach, separate from the current game mechanics.

While concrete plans remain unannounced, NetEase continues to regularly update Marvel Rivals. New characters, such as the Human Torch and The Thing, are slated for release on February 21st. Further discussions with Wu and Koo also touched upon potential future releases on the Nintendo Switch 2 and addressed speculation regarding intentionally misleading dataminers with fake hero leaks. These topics are covered in separate articles.
