Marvel Rivals enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting update! The developers at NetEase have announced a significant shift in their content release strategy, promising to keep the game as vibrant and engaging as it was at launch. Starting from Season 3, new heroes will be introduced every month, a change from their initial plan of releasing two heroes per season. This thrilling news was shared by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, along with plans to shorten the duration of each season from three months to two.
Guangguang elaborated on this new approach, stating, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month." This ambitious plan has been influenced by community feedback and the desire to keep the game exciting. Additionally, the developers are contemplating the introduction of new game modes to further enhance the player experience, potentially leading to the addition of up to 12 new heroes annually.
While this increased pace of hero releases presents a challenge, particularly in terms of balancing, Guangguang has assured fans that the team is well-prepared. In a recent interview with PC Gamer on March 14, he emphasized the team's reliance on key metric data across all game modes, such as pick rates, win rates, and various stats and abilities, to ensure fair and enjoyable gameplay. "This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts," he explained.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans
The Dev Vision also shed light on Season 2, dubbed the Hellfire Gala, where Marvel Heroes are invited by the new hero, Emma Frost, to explore the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, an X-Men villain known for her telepathic abilities and diamond transformation, will serve as a Vanguard in the game. The Hellfire Gala promises a luxurious celebration on the island, and the trailer showcased new skins for Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, Black Panther, and others, all in elegant formal attire. This event draws inspiration from Marvel’s Hellfire Club, an elite social club known for its influence over global affairs.
Following Emma Frost’s debut, Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron, another iconic Marvel villain. The Hellfire Gala trailer hints at a dramatic twist, with Ultron robots crashing the party in an attempt to initiate the Age of Ultron. Details about Ultron's role in the game remain under wraps, but fans are eagerly anticipating his arrival.
