If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to dive into the new minigame, Demon’s Hand, available in the client until the end of April. If you’ve played *Balatro*, you'll feel right at home with this card-based challenge. Let's get you set up and playing in no time!
League of Legends Demon’s Hand: Set-Up and Getting Started
First things first, make sure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once that's done, click the Play button to access the game type menu and select Demon’s Hand. This will kick off the story introduction and lead you straight into your first round of the card game.

On your screen, your hand is displayed as the bottom row of cards. In the bottom right, you'll find your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Just above that is your Sigil box, where you can have up to six Sigils active at once, though you start with none. Remember, your health doesn't automatically restore after each battle. To regain some health, make sure to visit the tent locations on your map, which will restore a percentage of your health.
The enemy is represented by the card at the top, with its health shown in the bottom right and damage in the bottom left. To the left of the enemy card, you'll see an attack coin, indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes back. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book listing all possible attack hands and their base damage for a standard round.
How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

To deal damage, you'll need to play poker hands, which in Demon’s Hand have unique names but follow the same principles. The ultimate goal is to land The Demon’s Hand, which is equivalent to a royal flush. Here's a rundown of the hands you can play along with their poker equivalents and base damage:
- Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
- Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
- Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
- Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
- Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
- March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
- Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
- Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
- Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
- The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)
In addition to the base damage, the numerical value of each card is added to the total damage. However, if the enemy has a special ability that nullifies a specific suit, those cards will be crossed out and won't contribute to the damage, though you can still play them.
Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils
Sigils are another key element, which you can purchase during store phases, marked by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies, and these can then be spent on Sigils. Each Sigil has a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils enhance specific hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others might give you extra turns before the enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.
That's everything you need to know to start playing the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the exciting April Fools skins coming to Summoner’s Rift!
