Monster Hunter Wilds Adds Real-Money Transactions

Author : Christopher May 06,2025

Capcom has rolled out an exciting new feature in *Monster Hunter Wilds* that lets players tweak their hunter and Palico appearances to their heart's content. But here's the catch: while your first edit is on the house, any subsequent changes will require you to buy Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers come in packs of three for a cool $6, or you can snag a combo deal for both your hunter and Palico for $10. Without these vouchers, you're limited to just fiddling with hairstyles, eyebrow colors, makeup, and clothing—core facial features are off-limits.

What's interesting is that Capcom kept this monetization twist under wraps during the game's early previews. It wasn't until last week that they spilled the beans via their social media channels. Despite the stir around microtransactions and some performance hiccups, *Monster Hunter Wilds* smashed records, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam right at launch.

So far, Capcom hasn't chimed in on the player feedback regarding this move. The community is buzzing with discontent over the paid customization model, drawing unfavorable comparisons to earlier games in the series where you could switch up your look for free or with in-game currency. A lot of fans feel this new approach chips away at what used to be a cherished aspect of the franchise.
