Player First Games announced the impending closure of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, will be the game's last, ending May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. A blog post on the studio's website details the discontinuation of support.
While online play will cease on May 30th, offline access to all earned and purchased content via local and training modes will remain. The developers expressed gratitude to the MultiVersus community for their support.

Real-money transactions are now unavailable, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used until the May 30th shutdown. The game will also be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
This closure follows reports of MultiVersus' underperformance, resulting in a significant $100 million writedown for Warner Bros. Discovery. This adds to the $300 million writedown following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The news comes after the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will include new content, notably the addition of Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar reward) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass) as playable characters. Both arrive next week.
