Innovative Tactical Extraction Game Revealed

Developer Ice Code Games, known for Hard West II and Rogue Waters, has announced Nightmare Frontier - a hybrid tactical strategy game that combines turn-based combat with extraction looter mechanics. The innovative title blends elements of XCOM, Hunt: Showdown, and Lovecraftian horror into one terrifying experience.

The game transports players to an alternate 19th-century America ravaged by a supernatural catastrophe. As reality unravels, survivors face monstrous "Dreadweavers" - physical manifestations of humanity's deepest fears. Players assume the role of a hardened scavenger leader, venturing into the ruined city to gather resources while battling psychological horrors.

Game director Martin Pavelek describes the vision: "We wanted to create something truly different in the tactics genre. The extraction mechanics create constant tension - every decision could mean the difference between escaping with valuable loot or losing everything to the nightmare."

Key Features to Anticipate

  • Tactical turn-based combat meets roguelike extraction looter gameplay
  • Gothic horror setting inspired by classic cosmic terror
  • Deep weapon customization with salvaged components
  • Dynamic sanity system that affects combat performance
  • Procedurally generated terrors that adapt to player fears

Currently in development, Nightmare Frontier promises to challenge even veteran strategy players when it releases in 2024. The haunting premiere screenshots showcase its distinctive dark aesthetic and tactical depth. Strategy enthusiasts can already wishlist the game on Steam ahead of future updates.
