Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus and Enhancements Added

Author : Skylar May 04,2025

Team Ninja has unveiled a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, now at version 1.0.7.0, introducing exciting features like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more. This eagerly awaited patch, announced in response to fan feedback in January, is now available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on both Steam and the Microsoft Store.

New Game Plus is a fan-favorite feature that allows players to kick off a new game on any difficulty they've previously conquered, bringing along their arsenal of weapons and Ninpo from the last run. However, these items will reset to Level 1, and players cannot directly leap into a higher difficulty using this mode.

In terms of quality of life enhancements, players can now choose to hide the projectile weapon on their character's back. This can be toggled on or off through the "Show Projectile Weapon" option found under Game Settings in the Options menu.

On the balance front, Team Ninja has tweaked enemy health and numbers across several chapters. Specifically, enemy Hit Points have been reduced in Chapter 8, "City of the Fallen Goddess," and Chapter 11, "Night in the City of Water." Conversely, the number of enemies has been increased in Chapter 13, "The Temple of Sacrifice," and Chapter 14, "A Tempered Gravestone." Additionally, some of Ayane's attacks now deal more damage.

The patch also includes a variety of bug fixes, addressing issues encountered on high-performance PCs, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and other minor glitches. For a comprehensive list, you can refer to the full patch notes below.

Ninja Gaiden Black 2 was a surprise hit during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This updated rendition of the acclaimed action title, built on Unreal Engine 5, not only enhances graphic fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and improves battle support functions.

In our review, IGN rated Ninja Gaiden Black 2 an impressive 8/10, noting: "While fewer enemies with more health may mean it isn't the definitive version, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a stunning and significant improvement over its Sigma 2 predecessor, remaining an outstanding action game."
