Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Snake-Themed Mass Outbreak Event
A special Mass Outbreak event is underway in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, celebrating the Year of the Snake! Until January 12th, trainers can encounter increased numbers of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper, with boosted Shiny Pokémon encounter rates.
This event follows the recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event, a fitting end to the Year of the Dragon. This new event, however, focuses on serpentine Pokémon, perfectly timed for the upcoming Year of the Snake.
The event, running from January 9th to January 12th (7:00 PM Eastern to 6:59 PM Eastern), offers players a chance to catch these Pokémon in various locations across the Paldea region. Silicobra will appear across all land areas, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokémon levels will range from 10 to 65, scaling with player progress in the main storyline. To access the event, players must connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."
Key Details of the Snakelike Mass Outbreak:
- Duration: January 9th - January 12th (7:00 PM ET - 6:59 PM ET)
- Pokémon: Silicobra, Ekans, Seviper (increased Shiny rates)
- Locations: Silicobra (all land areas), Ekans (Kitakami), Seviper (Terarium)
- Internet Connection Required: Yes
Shiny odds are increased by 0.5% before any multipliers are applied. Trainers can further boost their chances by using Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper; for Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.
The future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet beyond this event remains uncertain, especially with the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake in the games are yet to be revealed.
