Pokémon TCG Pocket previews new trading feature and gives fresh details on implementation

Author : Thomas Feb 13,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a highly anticipated trading system! This new feature, launching later this month, will let players exchange cards with friends, mimicking the real-world trading experience.

A key element of the new system is that trades are limited to cards of the same rarity (1-4 stars) and only between friends. Furthermore, the cards used in a trade are consumed; you won't retain a copy after trading.

A Balanced Approach to Trading

While some limitations exist, this implementation is a solid first step for a digital TCG. The developers' commitment to monitoring player feedback and adjusting the system as needed is reassuring.

Some unanswered questions remain, particularly regarding which rarity tiers will be excluded from trading and the specifics of consumable currency usage. These details will likely be clarified upon the system's release.
