Pokemon GO Accidentally Reveals Upcoming Legendary Dynamax Raids

Pokémon GO Leak Hints at Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno Raids

A premature announcement from the official Pokémon GO Saudi Arabia Twitter account, quickly deleted, revealed the upcoming arrival of Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno in Dynamax Raids. The event is tentatively scheduled for January 20th to February 3rd. This would mark the first appearance of Dynamax legendary Pokémon in the game, following the September 2024 introduction of the Dynamax mechanic.

The Kanto legendary birds remain immensely popular within the Pokémon community. While previously featured in standard raids (including their Shiny forms), and their Galarian counterparts added to Daily Incense in 2023 (with Shiny variants available since October 2024), this Dynamax iteration represents a significant new addition.

The leak, spotted by Reddit user nintendo101, suggests a potential boost to the popularity of Max Raids, a feature some players have found less engaging. The difficulty of Max Raids, particularly the requirement of 40 players, drew criticism in October 2024. Whether this challenge will persist with the Dynamax legendary birds remains uncertain. The inclusion of these iconic Pokémon, however, hints at the possibility of other legendary Dynamax Pokémon appearing in future Max Raids, mirroring the Dynamax forms featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

This leak follows a flurry of Pokémon GO announcements for early 2025. Confirmed events include a Community Day Classic featuring Ralts on January 25th, a Shadow Raid Day with Shadow Ho-Oh on January 19th (offering up to seven free Raid Passes), and the unveiling of Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris as host cities for Pokémon GO Fest 2025.
